My entire adult life has been devoted to the writing of unwritten history. As we all know, winners do write the history. Thus, I have made it my life's mission to give voice to history's "losers." From the American Civil War to World War Two I have deliberately taken the loser's perspective simply to find out what is mostly unknown and hence, find out what is almost entirely unwritten. Winners do indeed write history and the libraries are full of the winner's accounts. I write that book, that one book which will hopefully help us to not only understand and learn from the "other side," but will hopefully help us to understand "what really happened." Only by understanding both sides of an event can we hope to avoid repeating that which we would prefer to avoid. Several years ago my book, Hellstorm--The Death of Nazi Germany, 1944-1947, was published. Many readers mentioned that after finishing the book they now not only view World War Two differently, but they also view the world differently. Currently, I am working on a follow-up book to Hellstorm, tentatively titled Summer, 1945--Germany, Japan and the Harvest of Hate. My hope is that this book will have the same deep impact on readers as Hellstorm had. Looking ahead, I plan a book on the fate of Italy, Romania and other German allies of WWII. And so on. Any financial help will be greatly appreciated and will be put to immediate and good use.
